What does a logic model establish about an intervention for street benzodiazepine use?

An intervention can be fully described before its benefits and risks have been measured in patients. A Scottish project on high-risk benzodiazepine use alongside opioid use is an example of that distinction.

What the development study produced

The team held three workshops with clinicians, researchers and people with lived experience, each followed by a separate lived-experience group discussion. The resulting logic model combined supervised clinical elements, including proposed diazepam prescribing, with supports addressing sleep, anxiety and pain, plus harm-reduction resources. The workshops helped define a package for subsequent feasibility testing.

How to characterize the evidence

The paper supplies evidence about development and stakeholder input. It provides no comparative clinical estimate of overdose, mortality or treatment retention after implementing the package. For a report or deposition, match any claim to the study stage. A description of planned components is support for what investigators intended to test. A claim about outcomes requires data collected from people who actually received the intervention.
