An anesthesia protocol can define successful control as time spent within a numerical monitor range. The endpoint addresses a specific aspect of anesthetic management and has to be read alongside separate safety observations.
How the trial plans to measure anesthetic control
The protocol describes separate groups for older adults and patients with hepatic or renal impairment. Within those groups, it plans a comparison of remimazolam and propofol. Its primary outcome uses the proportion of the study drug administration period with a bispectral index between 35 and 65. The protocol also proposes pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic analyses.
What that endpoint can establish when results are available
The proportion measures consistency within the selected monitor range. It does not directly measure hemodynamic safety, recall or individual drug clearance. A reviewer should distinguish the planned monitor endpoint from secondary outcomes and from any later published results. This publication describes the planned study.
